This Gallery contains photographs I have taken of dancers, primarily ballet dancers. It includes both classical ballet as well as contemporary ballet images. I love the beauty and grace of these dancers as they use their bodies to create forms and compositions that are breathtaking. A number of these images are in museums and collections around the world.
And, if you like these images, perhaps you might be interested in trying your hand in creating some them yourself, by joining me in one of my "Photography of the Ballet" workshops held at the Serendipity Art Center Building studio in Rockville Maryland. I usually hold them about every two months or so, and if you are interested you can see when the next one is being offered by looking at the "Upcoming Workshops" section of this website.
After about 2000 the dancers from the Washington Ballet have mostly become unavailable to me, due to changes in their professional status and (as I understand it) their unionization. So, I am using advanced pre-professional dancers from a local dance academy for my workshops. These young dancers are amazing in their beauty, grace and skill! You can see for yourself in the photos below what they can do.
